Trends: Steers and heifers, steady/active.

Steers: (200-300) $178-$235; (300-400) $154-$207; (400-500) $134-$195; (500-600) $117-$151; (600-700) $108-$145; and (700-800) $97-$127.

Heifers: (200-300) $135-$182; (300-400) $121-$176; (400-500) $110-$172; (500-600) $109-$147; (600-700) $99-$125; and (700-800) $98-$119.

Slaughter cows: $40-$78; slaughter bulls, $60-$99; stocker cows, $60-$86; bred cows, $780-$1,200; pairs, $1,000-$1,375; horses, $70-$450.

CUERO

Oct. 19

Receipts: 1,613

Had 268 cows and 15 bulls. The packer market continued to be steady with last few weeks. The fat cow market was a little weaker with everything else steady. Packer bulls were higher. The stocker cows and pair market was really high on the consignment here this week with bred cows as high as $1,240 and pairs up to $1,900.

The calf market was much higher than even last week's up market. Lighter thin calves were much higher. Thinner 5 to 7 weight steers up to $10 higher while others were up at least $2-$3/cwt. There were no holes in the market as the market was extremely active with lots of interest from buyers. Just a good solid day.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $87-$95; lower grades, $75-$84.

Packer cows: breakers, $68-$75; boning cows, $70-$76; canners and cutters, $65-$78.50; light and weak, $40-$55.

Palpated dry cows: $900-$1,240; pairs: $1,380-$1,900.

Compared to last week: The market this week was $2 to $3 higher in most areas with light weights $4 to $6 higher. Demand very good on all better quality classes. Wheat and oat grazing demand very good.

Packer cows and bulls sold $1 to $2 higher on about 160 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $73-$84.50; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $62-$73; light weight canner cows, $51-$62.
