Oct. 21, 2012 at 5:21 a.m.

A fire of unknown origin gutted a double-wide mobile home Saturday afternoon in Cuero and displaced a family

"It was pretty hard work," Fire Chief Butch Tolbert said.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters, including a crew from the Yoakum Fire Department, responded to the residence on East Texas Street about 4 p.m.

No one was home when the flames were reported. Fire crews took about two hours to douse the blaze, Tolbert said. He said the cause was undetermined.

Linda May, emergency services director of the American Red Cross Crossroads/Victoria Chapter, said the agency was helping a family of six with clothing, shoes, food and temporary accommodations. To help, call 361-573-2671.
