Name: Raymond P. Martinez

Age: 38

City/county of residence: Bloomington/Victoria

Office Seeking: Trustee Place 3, Bloomington School Board of Trustees

Occupation: Carrier, U.S. Postal Service

Why do you want to serve in the office you are seeking?

I would like to serve as Trustee in Place 3.

I hold a personal stake in the Bloomington school district because I was born and raised here.

I graduated from Bloomington High School and I have children who attend school in the district.

I would like to take part in making sure our students are getting the best education needed and have the proper resources available to prepare them for college.

I believe high standards need to be held for our students so that they can have the opportunity to attend universities.

I believe graduating with the bare minimum is harming our students in the long run.

Yes, we are a small school but our students have every right to have the same education as bigger schools and we should be able to provide quality education in a smaller classroom setting.

What qualifies you to serve in this office?

I have been a member of the community for almost all of my life.

I have been highly involved with the community by volunteering for several school related and community events.

I have served on the BISD school board for one year in Place 3 and during that time I have attended several school related conferences to educate and prepare me for a position as a school board trustee.

If elected, how will you go about serving your constituents?

As a school board member, I will recognize parents and staff members concerns.

It is my goal to address any concerns and along with the board members come to an agreement to do what is right for our students and staff members.

It is the responsibility of BISD to have experienced teachers and the proper resources needed to educate our students.

Is there anything else you would like to discuss concerning your election?

I served three years in the U.S. Army.
