The Parks and Recreation Department would like to extend our appreciation to everyone who supported Bootfest 2012.
Bootfest has been considered a resounding success, and we know we could not have done this without our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, local business' support and fellow employees. Thank you, all.
We can't stop now. The Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for the upcoming holiday season and is planning an array of community events.
Our next event is Market Days. If you are looking to do some early holiday shopping, come by Market Days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17.
We are deep in the planning process for our Christmas on the Square and Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. Parades are a popular event in Victoria, and we want to make this the best lighted parade ever.
There is still time for you to submit an application to be an entry in the parade. The deadline for parade entries is 5 p.m. Nov. 16. Applications are available at victoriatx.org by clicking on the Parks and Recreation link.
Christmas on the Square will be the evening of Nov. 30 at DeLeon Plaza.
The Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will take place the following evening, Dec. 1.
Be sure to arrive early to secure a place to view the parade - our parade attracts 20,000 people each year.
Did you know that the Community Center is part of the Parks and Recreation Department as well? The Community Center is also bustling with activity. For a listing of events hosted at the Community Center, visit victoriatx.org, and click on Community Center and Events Calendar.
As you can see, Victoria Parks and Recreation Department is a busy place. It takes many great staff members to provide quality parks and recreational activities for our community to enjoy. We are looking for people to join our team in parks, recreation and at the Community Center. If you are interested in working with us, visit victoriatx.org to view our department's job listings and to apply online. Victoria Parks and Recreation is the place to be.
