Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday to see Cedric the Entertainer at a Dec. 15 comedy show. The event will feature two shows with the first at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Fine Arts Center.

The time for the second show has not been set.

Marla Wilson, the comedian's publicist, confirmed the visit Wednesday.

Promoters Frank Salazar and Mario L. Garcia, with Salazar and Da Le Shine Promotions, said they hoped the event would draw people from all over.

People often say there's nothing to do in Victoria when what they really mean is there isn't much variety, Garcia said.

"That's what we're bringing," he said. "This is more adult entertainment. It's something different."

Cedric the Entertainer, known offstage as Cedric Kyles, received BET's Richard Pryor Comic of the Year Award in 1994, according to an article on Biography.com.

Among other work, he has appeared in the "Barbershop" films, "The Soul Man" TV series and provided the voice for Maurice in the "Madagascar" animated films, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Victoria comedian Thea Vidale will introduce Kyle at the December show and the event will also feature two other comics - part of Kyle's usual act - Salazar said. An after party, which also includes a visit by Vidale, takes place at Two Step Victoria.

Tickets range from $50 to $100 and are available for purchase through the Victoria Fine Arts Center. EventBrite.com will later offer tickets, as well.

Salazar was recently associated with a Disney show previously slated to come to Victoria, featuring actors from the shows "Shake It Up" and "A.N.T. Farm." The event fell through, however, and Salazar refunded people's money.

He said he looked forward to offering up a bit of extra entertainment to the region.

"Victoria's ready for this," he said.
