Victoria West volleyball area playoff match set

The Warriors playoff march toward a hopeful third straight appearance at the Region IV-4A volleyball tournament continues on Friday.

Victoria West will play its area round matchup on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. in its home gym against Corpus Christi Moody, which beat Mission 3-1 on Tuesday evening. The Warriors swept Uvalde at Northside ISD.

The winner will face winner of the area round matchup between Edcouch-Elsa, which is No. 8 in the most recent state volleyball poll, and Calhoun, which finished third in District 30-4A and whom the Warriors beat twice in district play.

The Warriors are No. 9 in the most recent TGCA volleyball poll. They and Edcouch-Elsa are the two highest ranked teams in that poll still alive in Region IV-4A.

St. Joseph vs. Austin St. Dominic Savio, TAPPS 4A semifinal, 11 a.m. Friday at Blossom Athletic Center, San Antonio

ALL-AREA NOMINATIONS: Coaches are asked to submit nominations to the all-area volleyball team via email the Victoria Advocate Sports Department or by fax to 361-574-1220. Please include for each nominee a position, year and statistics. Only coaches may nominate players.
