The Rev. Charles D. Stephens, of John Wesley United Methodist Church, is calling area churches to participate in National Back to Church Sunday.

The national event, which last year attracted 7,600 churches nationwide to participate, is an annual event aimed at packing the pews with new and old members on Sunday.

On average, the event raised attendance at all churches by 25 percent last year.

To date, only two churches in the Crossroads have confirmed participation, John Wesley and Northgate Church.

National Back to Church Sunday hopes to attract 10,000 churches to participate in the event this year, according to the event's website.

For more information on the event, contact Stephens at John Wesley United Methodist, or visit backtochurch.com.
