Laureate Alpha Omicron Chapter holds meeting
Laureate Alpha Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its first regular meeting of the year recently in the home of President Frances Smith.
The Ways and Means Committee served a safari-themed meal prior to the business session.
Sue Lynn Hatcher, dressed as a cowgirl, presented the program, "Waltz Across Texas." She pointed out places of interest along Interstate 10 for 857 miles between Beaumont and El Paso.
Hatcher staid Texas has 256 counties, all of which have courthouses, and that Victoria was the third township in Texas.
Numerous pictures and brochures were circulated, and members were urged to take short trips to see the beauty of Texas.
Committee reports were given and inserts for the yearbook were distributed. Those responsible were Loretta Johnson, Louise Pletcher and Marilyn Logan. The International Beta Sigma Phi theme this year is "You're Among Friends."
The next meeting will be Tuesday at the Hatcher home.
