SHINER 27,SCHULENBURG 24
Schulenburg's Ross Bludau passed for 272 yards and scored two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to halt an upset victory by the Shiner Comanches.
Friday night's game was the seventh straight year the two teams have met. Schulenburg still leads in that series, now with a 5-2 edge.
Shiner's Evel Jones and Trevion Flowers gave their team the biggest advantages, rushing for a combined 245 yards.
Flowers initially scored with a 23-yard run with 2:52 remaining in the first quarter. And then again in the second quarter with 5:05 left on the clock.
In the third quarter, Jones scored with a 38-yard run with 2:15 remaining.
Then with 2:53 remaining in the fourth quarter, Shiner's Jacob Stafford ran for 2 yards to secure the winning score.
Schulenburg's Jeffrey Lara scored twice during the game - the first after a 76-yard pass from Bludau in the first quarter and the second during the third quarter after connecting again with a 52-yard pass.
