Livestock markets report

Sept. 15, 2012 at 4:15 a.m.

BEEVILLE

Information not available.

CUERO

Sept. 14

Receipts: 1,560

Had 110 cows and 11 bulls. This market was a little weaker as the fall runs are beginning and supply is better. Most classes were $2 lower. So it is still a supply driven market. Demand for any quality replacement cows and heifers is very high.

The calf market was mixed to $2 lower. Average prices lost some of the increase from last week's up market, but not much. Most classes were max $3 lower. Most of the loss continues to come from too fleshy type calves. The heifer replacement market continues to place a $10 to $20 premium over feeder heifers. Overall, it was a very active market with demand for all classes. Some of decline may be more of a correction to last week's substantially higher market.
