Citizens Medical Center awarded WomenCertified's Women's Choice Award
Citizens Medical Center was recently awarded Women Certified's Women's Choice Award, the hospital announced Wednesday.
The distinction puts Citizens among the 2012 America's Best Hospitals for Patient Experience, according to a hospital news release.
The award is based on criteria that consider patient satisfaction and what women say they want from a hospital, including quality physician communications, responsiveness of nurses and support staff, cleanliness and trusted referrals from other women.
The hospital was proud to receive the recognition, David P. Brown, Citizens Medical Center CEO, said. Its team works tirelessly to offer positive patient experiences so that, when patients need care again, they choose Citizens.
"To be given this seal of approval by the family medical decision makers, women, means a lot," he said.
Women make or influence more than 90 percent of health care decisions for themselves and their families, according to an American Academy of Family Physicians study.
Delia Passi, WomenCertified's founder and CEO, said the hospital's recognition differentiates it from other area hospitals.
"Women have many choices when it comes to health care, and they set the standard for customer service," she said. "Women's Choice Award recipients have demonstrated extraordinary service in meeting the needs of women and their families, and represent the smart choice for women."
Hospitals qualify for the recognition based on a scoring process which incorporates a national, standardized survey of patients' perspectives of hospital care reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, analysis that weighs criteria identified as most important to women for patient satisfaction and WomenCertified's in-depth research on customer satisfaction among women.
The 100 best scores in four hospital size categories determine the winners. Women Certified receives no payment in exchange for placement on the list.
