Another Way To help

To make donations to Pamela Steward and her five grandsons, ages 3, 6, 11, 12 and 15, please call Teryl Taylor at 361-935-1860. They are in need of clothes, food, school supplies and shelter.

Teryl and Kristi Taylor have also set up an account at TDECU under the name "Pamela Steward Benefit account" to help the family.

A seasonal store in Victoria is doing its part to help a family in need.

Spirit Halloween will accept monetary donations through Nov. 1 for the Steward family, who lost their home in a weekend fire, said Brent Wilborn, the store's manager.

Pamela Steward's home in the 1000 block of Pecan Street was reported burning just after noon Saturday. The fire, which began in the utility room, consumed the entire structure.

Steward lived in the home with her five grandsons.

Wilborn, who coaches one of the grandchildren in football, said he hoped to see the community pull together to support those in need.

"This is just my small part to help the family out," he said. "I want to do what I can."

Spirit is at 2702 N. Laurent St., in the same shopping center that houses Beall's Department Store. For more information, call the store at 361-576-9998.
