Bails of hay burn, blow smoke through Bay City

Sept. 26, 2012 at 4:26 a.m.

The Bay City Volunteer Fire Department received a call at about 4 p.m. Tuesday about a trailer carrying about 30 bails of hay that caught fire near Farm-to-Market Road 1468. Volunteer Fire Departments from Tres Palacios, Markham, Van Vleck and Midfield helped put out the three hour fire, said Michael Furrh, with Bay City Fire Department. Texas Department of Transportation helped break the hay so the fire could be properly extinguished.
