Victoria Symphony League puts on a James Bond affair

The Victoria Symphony League recently held its Fall Luncheon and Fashion Show.
The theme, Styles, For Your Eyes Only, was a sold out event at the Spring Creek Place Event Center. The tables, hall and patrons carried out the James Bond theme.
Style commentator Cheryl Guthrie described each fashion from Victoria and boutiques in Cuero and Moulton. This year, Melvin's, was added with three sets of men's fashions modeled. Torin Bales, Victoria jeweler, draped several models with "Diamonds Are Forever" gems.
The center of attraction was entertainer Chase Brown, who sang songs from James Bond movies, threw on a Bond hat, and danced down the runway.
Mike Hummel, with the Victoria Symphony Society, auctioned off a song by Chase to one table. And the winner, after fierce bidding, went to Judy Van Zant of Cornerstone Properties.
Mistress of ceremonies Mary Jane Schurtz, president of the Victoria Symphony League, thanked the League members. Those recognized included Cora Jo Hummel, steering committee chairwoman; Emily Markette and her committee for the menu; Penni Gietz, for her numerous contributions to the Victoria Symphony; the James Bond waiters; and the VISD Culinary Department student. Yummy Finds' Courtney Figueroa provided non-alcoholic "mocktails" served by the students, as well as sweet blueberry scones for each plate. And Brine Events (Tanja Patterson and Joshua Tye) provided a special panna cotta dessert.
