David Matthews was close to perfection during Sundowner League play to lead all bowlers with an onslaught of the pins.

Matthews, the current city champion, started league play with 11 strikes before leaving the 5-pin on the 12th ball for a 299 game. He added games of 215 and 259 to total 773 for the night.

Matthews has one perfect game in local competition, which was bowled in 2009.

Randy Vivero posted the second high weekly series with two great games of 268 and 267 helping towards a 767. Vivero's highest career series is 792.

Olivia Jackson had the hot hand for two games to lead the women's scoring.

She rolled games of 232, 223, and 182 for a very nice 637 series posted during Sugar & Spice competition.

Lynda Mikulec, competing in the same league, bowled a 232 high game, which contributed towards a 626 total.

Samantha Wharton also broke the 600 mark with a 223-621.

Vera Cruz Restaurant bowlers for the week are Steve Dickinson 793 (Sugar & Spice) and Carol Goode 731 (Over The Hill).

The Senior Mixed City Tournament will be held at the Century Lanes on April 20th and 21st. Entry forms are available at the lanes' front desk. Entry is open to VUSBC bowlers that are 55 and over as of March 1, 2013. The entry deadline is April 16.
