With its purple and yellow walls, pops of green, communal tables and more, the lobby at Victoria's new Days Inn doesn't look like others in the chain.
Then again, that's the whole point.
Victoria's new 64-room hotel, which opened March 25 at 6203 Dairy Road, is the first of its kind for the brand, General Manager Christa Rogers said.
"Days Inn hotels, from here forward - this is what they'll look like," she explained. "This is the prototype."
The idea is to offer more modern design elements, she said, in line with what people might want in their homes or businesses. The modern twist extends to the fitness center.
While the center offers a wall-mounted TV for guests to watch during workouts, the elliptical and treadmill machines will also soon offer small personal TVs of their own.
Other amenities include a meeting room with board room-style tables, ergonomic chairs and space for 35 people, Rogers said.
A guest laundry facility, business center and morning breakfast are also available.
The aim, she explained, is to keep things affordable. Rates were $129 to $139, she said Friday.
"We know people are gouging the rates," she said. "We know about the boom. But we want to remain value-conscious."
Rogers said the hotel, owned by Jerry and Kerry Roddy, is off to a strong start. A mid-April grand opening is in the works, she explained, and she looks forward to the days to come.
"I'm excited to take this hotel to the next level," Rogers said.
