The Victoria County Genealogical Society was called to order March 11 by Kenneth Booth, president. The committees gave reports. There is a total of 142 members from the seven counties that are represented in the society. Hospitality Chairwoman Charlene Newton stated she was working on the July social. Quarterly Editor Loretta Johnson and her helpers will soon be sending out the publication. The program was given by one of the new members, Judy Lynn Turner, who was introduced by Booth.

Have you thought about using social media to research your family tree? Turner presented a very interesting program using social media on the internet. Using Facebook, Twitter and other sites on the Internet, you can pick up leads to people's birthdays and anniversary dates. Don't be afraid to ask and then use it only as a guide for further research. Start your own Web page and link it to a public page. There is probably someone looking for the same person or family that you are looking for. It is exciting when you meet up on the internet and maybe have been corresponding and just didn't know you had the same genes a few generations back.

The next meeting will be in the basement meeting room of the Victoria College at 7 p.m. Monday, April 8. Sherron Barnes will present the program. Visitors are welcome. Members are encouraged to attend. All meetings are the second Monday of each month at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 2105 N. Ben Jordan St.
