Best Furniture Store: Ashley's Furniture HomeStore
Readers voted Ashley's Furniture HomeStore best furniture store in the 2013 Best of the Best competition.
Ashley's Furniture HomeStore has been a staple in the community since 1922.
It started as Stimson Furniture and moved in May 2009 farther down Navarro Street into the old H-E-B building.
The 35,000-square-foot showroom holds the latest and greatest in furniture and home decor, said Paige Streiff, a fourth-generation part owner.
She said it's a business that's always changing.
"They're coming out with a product now where you're able to use a touch screen to recline a sofa ... They even have a cup holder that cools your drinks," she said, excitedly.
She said they've been named Best of the Best because of their dedication to community service. Last October, they held a benefit for the Guardians of the Ribbon, a nonprofit that promotes breast cancer awareness.
She said the store gets busier as residents receive their tax returns and want to revamp their place.
To prepare, they switch their front displays with a new style every three months.
"We have a good selection for a very good price. It's good value for what you're getting," Streiff said.
