Best Jewelry Store: Torin Bales Fine Jewelry

Torin Bales Fine Jewelry store was voted the Best of the Best in the Victoria Advocate's 2013 competition.

Readers voted Torin Bales Fine Jewelry store the Best of the Best in the 2013 competition.

Owner Torin Bales said you won't find the ring your best friend is wearing at his store.

That's because the store - a staple in the community since 1994 - carries collections unique to the area, such as jewelry designed by David Yurman and John Hardy, watches created by Rolex and William Henry pocket knives.

"It's not really taboo, but it just kind of takes away from something really special to you if you go and show it to your friend and they have the exact same one," Bales said, adding chain stores may order from manufacturers in bulk.

Torin Bales designers can even create a custom look in-house using a state-of-the-art computer-assisted design machine while customers lounge and enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine to relax.

That's why, he said, they've had customers calling for their expert services from as far away as California.

"We have a reputation of being very trustworthy," Bales said.
