Don't leave trash for someone else to pick up

Editor, the Advocate:
I rarely, if ever, feel compelled to write to the editor, but this past weekend made me extremely disgusted and angry. I ride my bike through Riverside Park often. I happened to ride through Easter weekend. Needless to say, it was very crowded.
Everyone seemed to be having parties and enjoying family time. It was a nice scene. Then I did the same ride the next morning. To say that it would take a crew of people a week to clean up all the garbage is an understatement. I cannot believe the absolute mess and lack of effort for anyone to clean up after themselves! The irresponsible, childish attitude that "someone else will pick it up," that they are "paid" to do it, is completely ignorant. Our tax dollars pay to pick up that mess.
Perhaps the city of Victoria should begin to run the park more like a business. Charge by the vehicle and the number of people in it. An entrance fee would at least pay for the trashing of a nice resource that Victoria offers. This way the city will at least be able to employ people to pick up after the thoughtless and lazy citizens of Victoria.
