Ricebird, Bulldog to play in all-star game

El Campo's Cole Hunt and Yoakum's Keith Ratley have been selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Football Game.
The football all-star game, which is in its 79th year, is scheduled for July 30 at TCU's Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.
The basketball all-star game, which is in its 69th year, will be played July 29 at TCU's Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The games are held in conjunction wit the association's annual coaching school.
Hunt played defensive end and tight end for the Ricebirds during his senior season, and helped lead them to the Class 3A, Division I state final last season.
He was named the defensive player of the year on the Associated Press Sports Editors and Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A all-state teams.
Hunt will attend Rice University on a football scholarship in the upcoming school year.
Ratley played wide receiver and defensive back for the Bulldogs as a senior. Yoakum advanced to the Class 3A, Division II bi-district playoffs.
Ratley earned honorable mention on the APSE and Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A all-state teams.
The South team will be coached by Hank Carter of Lake Travis. Carter was an assistant at Bay City when the Blackcats won the 2000 Class 4A, Division I state championship.
The North team will be coached by Stephenville's Joseph Gillespie. Stephenville defeated El Campo in the state final.
