Rick Madrid with the city's Development Service surveys the damage at Jack in the Box on North Navarro after a car hit the structure. Bill Smith, who said he drove his Ford Taurus into the building, shrugged it off and sat down to eat some tacos.

A Victoria man hit the side of a Jack in the Box restaurant on North Navarro Street on Friday and then entered the building to order lunch.

Bill Smith, who was driving an early model gray Ford Taurus, accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brake pedal while attempting to park in a space near the right side entrance, said Bryan Dowden, Victoria Police Department senior patrol officer.

Smith then entered the restaurant to order a pair of tacos.

The wreck shattered one of the restaurant's windows and punched a small dent into the structure.

Rick Madrid, building official with the city of Victoria's Development Services office, investigated the structural damage.

The building is safe for entry, and the restaurant did not close, Dowden said.

No injuries were reported, and no citations were issued, the officer said.
