Trends: Steers and heifers, good/high.

Steers: (200-300) $158-$240; (300-400) $149-$194; (400-500) $131-$200; (500-600) $127-$169; (600-700) $108-$157; and (700-800) $105-$131.

Heifers: (200-300) $134-$182; (300-400) $131-$220; (400-500) $126-$165; (500-600) $112-$145; (600-700) $107-$141; and (700-800) $96-$120.

April 12

Receipts: 1,430

Had 202 cows and 18 bulls. The packer market was a little weaker across the board. Heavy receipts of cows due to continued drought has caused an oversupply in this market.

The lighter calf market was steady to a stronger while heavier to mid weight calves were steady to weaker. Plainer type calves were hard to move being off 3-4 dollars cwt.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $91-$100; lower grades, $67-$80.

Packer cows: breakers, $65-$72; boning cows, $74-$80; canners and cutters, $83-$90; light and weak, $50-$66.

Palpated dry cows (25 bred cows): $74-$95.

As compared to our last Calves and yearling sold steady, packer cows sold steady.

As compared to last week: The market this week was steady to a little higher in most areas. Better quality and better conditioned calves sold mostly $2 higher. More fleshy new crop of calves showing up each week. Selling steady.

Packer cows and bulls sold $1 to $2 lower on about 240 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $74-$89; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $62-$74; light weight canner cows, $50-$62.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $102-$108.50; utility and cutter bulls, $93-$102; light weight canner bulls, $80-$93.
