The Victoria County Jail library recently received 410 paperback books as part of Victoria College's book drive for Project New Start.

The project is a program at the jail where inmates can continue their education.

Carol Walters, VC Bookstore assistant manager, handed over the books to Darlene Mayberry, Victoria County Sheriff's Office education coordinator.

The donated books are very popular with jail inmates, and their reading tastes run the gamut from Westerns to science fiction novels, Mayberry said.
