West boys golf finishes sixth at regional tournament

SAN ANTONIO - The Victoria West boys golf team ended its season with a fifth place finish at the 4A Regional Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of Texas.

The Warriors combined for a 329 team total on day two to end the tournament with a 654 final total. Alamo Heights took first place with a team score of 589.

Cabbott Hanes finished with the best of score for West with a two-day total of 156. Colton Escamilla finished with a 160 after turning in the only score under 80 for the Warriors on Tuesday.

Shannon Hawes finished with a 172 after a six-stroke improvement on day two. Jared Galvan and Remey Shelton each turned in a 174 for the tournament.

Wade Strickland made the biggest improvement of any West golfer. After finishing with a 97 on day one, Strickland shot an 83 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 180.
