A fatal wreck on Loop 463 near Houston Highway just before noon Thursday left one man dead and closed the road most of the day.

Kristopher Sydow, 36, of Fulton, died when his Ford heavy duty truck, which was pulling an empty flatbed trailer, was struck by a tanker-trailer carrying 7,700 gallons of crude oil, said Victoria Police Department spokeswoman Eline Moya.

The name of the tanker-trailer driver, who was uninjured, was not available, Moya said, but the truck was from Seguin.

The tanker-trailer was traveling east on the loop when the rig jackknifed, sending the tanker barreling toward Sydow's truck, Moya said.

Oil from the tanker leaked into the ditch, but Moya was unsure how much leaked.

Texas Department of Transportation finished cleaning up the leakage and reopened the loop between U.S. Highway 59 and Airline Road at 7:15 p.m., Moya said.
