Student wins Reliant energy rodeo art contest

Victoria East High School art teacher Candace Coyle, left, Piper Kallman, Julie Kallman and  Vickers Elementary School Principal Steve Carroll were presented with $2,000 worth of art supplies by representatives from Reliant Energy and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Piper Kallman, a fifth-grader at Vickers Elementary, received the People's Choice award from the Reliant Energy's Power of Art online contest.

The artwork "Ready to Ride" received 3,541 votes and was one of three winners.

Representatives from Reliant Energy and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo presented Piper with a gift bag containing a $100 gift card and a winner's plaque.

They also presented Vickers and Victoria school district with $2,000 worth of art supplies.
