Five-year-old Katie Navarro wrapped her arms around her father as they laughed at dogs performing.
Katie applauded when she saw dogs doing tricks. Her father Samuel Navarro enjoyed watching his daughter soak in the action.
"I wanted to take her out of the house and have her enjoy the day after a long week," said Navarro, smiling. "It's a great time to take the kids out of the house."
As for Katie, she enjoyed "dogs and everything," she said.
Saturday afternoon's dog circus performance at the Children's Discovery Museum was part of the Jam Fest Jam Fest festivities in downtown Victoria this weekend.
The five dogs at the museum, which were trained by Darren Peterson, twirled and moved on command, putting smiles on the faces of dozens of parents and kids.
Peterson contributed to the performance by juggling balls on a unicycle.
"I just like juggling and playing with dogs," said Peterson, who has been performing with animals for more than 18 years. "I'm just thrilled that people enjoy watching."
Betty Jo Elder, chairwoman of the board of the Children's Discovery Museum, said it was good the museum partnered with the weekend activities in downtown. The museum's goal was to have kids and parents participate at Jam Fest.
"These kids that showed up are having a good time," said Elder. "We always wish for more kids to enjoy the joy."
Seven-year-old Alyson Gilbert was front and center for the performance. Alyson sat just inches from the performance, hoping she didn't miss anything.
"She loves the children's center," said her grandfather, James Gilbert. "She has a couple of dogs, and she is very happy around animals."
Not wanting to leave the center, Alyson posed for pictures with Peterson and the dogs who performed to remember the fun time she had at the show.
