Dylan Blaha had five hits combined over two games, Nathan Falkenstine pitched a two-hit shutout in Game 2 and UHV swept the first of two home doubleheaders from LSU-Alexandria on Saturday at home.
The Jaguars won the first game 10-9 in 10 innings, then won the second 4-0 behind Falkenstine's gem.
In the first game, UHV led 9-1 going into the top of the sixth, when disaster struck. LSU-A (35-15) first got to starter Cory Carter for three runs, then touched up reliever Andre Del Bosque for four more before the inning was out. UHV tied the game in the seventh with a run off of Nick Huff.
The Jaguars broke the tie in the 10th inning when Brandon Bohanon brought in Dylan Blaha with a sacrifice fly to win the game for the Jaguars.
Bohanon was 3 for 4 in the first game with a run and four RBIs. Blaha was also 3 for 6 and scored all three times he was on base.
Chad Kruse added two hits and three RBIs in the first game.
The second game was less stressful. Falkenstine struck out eight and only walked two to go with the two hits he allowed.
UHV banged out seven hits, with Bohanon driving in two more. Dylan Blaha added two more hits, and Tyler Steiner was 3 for 3 at the plate with a solo home run.
The Jaguars are 17-20 heading into Sunday's doubleheader with LSU-A. UHV has three more games this season before its conference tournament.
This includes one more against A&M-Corpus Christi on the road next week.
