Moehrig breaks two season records for UHV softball

BELTON - Marley Moehrig belted her 13th home run of the season to set a new single season record for homers in a season for UHV, but the Jaguars lost twice at Mary Hardin Baylor on Saturday.
Moehrig also set UHV's single-season RBI record with her 64th RBI on the homer.
UHV's 12-game winning streak was snapped in the process, falling in Game 1, 6-2, then in Game 2 on a two-run walkoff homer, 3-2.
Moehrig was 1 for 3 in the first game, and was 1 for 4 in the second game, getting her record-breaking homer in the fourth inning.
The junior from Victoria also extended her hitting streak to 17 games.
In Game 1, Ashley Shannon was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a solo home run. Alex Holland contributed a hit, but was the losing pitcher.
In Game 2, Brittany Arredondo was 1 for 4 at the plate with an RBI, while Krissa Powell and Shannon added hits. Jena West was also 1 for 2 with a run in the second game.
Arredondo's 0 for 3 performance in the first game snapped a 25-game hitting streak for her this season.
Moehrig broke Kristen Lindley's 2008 record for RBIs with 63, and Stephanie Lavey's 2008 record for homers with 12 in a season.
The Jaguars are now 23-19.
