Michelle Klaus has recently been promoted to loan officer at TrustTexas Bank. She is from Cuero and has been with TrustTexas Bank for 13 years, serving in deposit operations then most recently as assistant to the CLO/loan processor.

Britt Carter recently began work as a custodian for the University of Houston-Victoria facilities department. He performs various janitorial duties in the University West building.

Gabriel Striedel recently was hired as a network administrator for the University of Houston-Victoria information technology department. He takes care of the university's computer equipment and servers. Striedel previously worked as a technical services coordinator for the Victoria school district. He earned a computer science bachelor's degree and two computer information systems master's degrees from UHV.

Mary Ramos is a new shuttle bus driver for the University of Houston-Victoria. She transports university students, faculty and staff to and from the campus and residence halls. She previously worked as an operation supervisor for Victoria Transit.

Mark Ward Sr., an assistant professor of communication at the University of Houston-Victoria, was elected secretary of the language and social interaction division of the Southern States Communication Association at its annual convention April 10-14 in Louisville, Ky. He also presented his paper, "Reaction as Lived Experience: Using Co-Cultural Theory to Understand the Fundamentalist Challenge to Civic Discourse," and was a speaker for a panel on "Encouraging Prosocial Choices for Public Relations Students: Connecting Communication and Consequences."

The International Interior Design Association has named Judy Pesek of Gensler to the College of Fellows. This is the highest honor paid by IIDA. In Pesek's 25 years with Gensler, she has been instrumental in growing the business in the Washington, D.C., Houston, Charlotte and Dallas offices. She will be honored at the IIDA Annual Meeting on June 9 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Pesek is the daughter of Robert and Molly Pesek, of Hallettsville.
