CORPUS CHRISTI - UHV came up short in its bid to finish the regular season at .500, dropping an 8-1 decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday night at Chapman Field.

Tyler Steiner went 2 for 4 for the Jaguars (19-21), who had only five hits against seven Islanders pitchers.

UHV scored in the fifth inning when Stephen Shorkey reached on an error and came home on singles by Brandon Bohanon and Robert Gleinser.

The Jaguars used eight pitchers with Brayden Blanton taking the loss.

UHV returns to action in the Association of Independent Institutions tournament on May 1 at Riverside Stadium.

The Jaguars should learn where they're seeded in the tournament on Sunday.
