Seasoned Saints were honored recently at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Front row, from left, are Dora Patton and Lucius Parr; and back row, from left, are Gennette Floyd and Ernest Floyd, Denise Garza and Pastor Vernon J. Garza, Evelyn Ray and Aldeline Barefield.

Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church's Helping Hands Ministry honored several seasoned saints during a recent service.

The scripture theme was: "The days of our years are threescore years and 10; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet in their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away," Psalms 90:10.

Cynthia Miller shared her view for a seasoned saint as one who has been seasoned because of their joys and sorrows, love and forgiveness, birth of children and death of loved ones, trials and victories, sickness and health.

The honorees shared some thoughts about being recognized as a seasoned saint.

Dora Patton was honored as the oldest member of Mt. Calvary at 102 years, was asked the question about her longevity; her reply was that it is the Lord who is still keeping her and being blessed by the love of her children and grandchildren through five generations.

Lucius Parr, oldest active member, played the piano and sang "Are You Satisfied With Jesus?"

Earnest and Gennette Floyd were honored as the longest married couple. When asked how they have remained married for 68 years, they both answered that they keep the Lord in our marriage.

Evelyn Ray was honored as the oldest active mother with a daughter attending church services.

Robert Foley Sr. and his son, Robert Foley Jr., were honored as the oldest active father and son attending church.

Thirty-one distinguished members of the Seasoned Saints of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church will be honored with a fellowship luncheon Saturday. During the luncheon, the engraved names on the Seasoned Saints Plaque of 2013 will be presented.

Each honoree received a certificate and a gift bag.
