Victoria West Warriors• Coach: Leonard McAngus

• 2012 record: 5-5, 2-4 in District 30-4A

• Practice starts: Saturday

• Spring game: May 21

• Starters returning: 8 offense, 5 defense

• Key players: WR/FS Jacob Armstrong, WR/S Anthony Navarro, RB Qualian Bryant, CB/WR Malcolm Peoples, LB Nathan Hermes, C Andrew Neuvar

• Coach McAngus says: "Our quarterback graduated, so that's a big thing right there. We're working on finding a replacement. On defense, we lost some guys, and we need to do some things to get better. We're going to spend time working on the basic fundamentals of blocking and tackling. That's what spring practice is all about."

Calhoun Sandcrabs• Coach: Richard Whitaker

• 2012 record: 10-1, 6-0 in District 30-4A

• Practice starts: Wednesday

• Spring game: May 30

• Starters returning: 6 offense, 2 defense

• Key players: QB Hunter Boerm, RB/DB Cory Williams, RB Brandon Smithwick, OL/DL Brian Tschatschula

• Coach Whitaker says: "We're trying to fill some holes. We lost our entire front seven on defense and just about our whole offensive line. We've got to find some kids who can play. Each day will be a teaching day for us. That's the great thing about spring practice. You don't have that pressure of getting ready for a game each week. You can work on a lot of things."

Bay City Blackcats• Coach: Dan Burk

• 2012 record: 0-10, 0-6 in District 23-4A

• Practice starts: Wednesday

• Spring game: May 30

• Starters returning: 10 offense, 10 defense

Key players: QB Zavian Gartica, RB Stacy Monroe, WR Marcus Pointer, OL/DL Alex MacLennan• Coach Burk says: "The main thing for us is to get better at what we do. We have to get better, technique wise. We want to get better at executing the stuff we do on offense and defense. We have most of our starters back, so we're going to work on getting better rather than finding players."
