Six occupants of a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu were detained for immigration officials after a traffic stop and bailout early Friday morning.
Five others who fled were not located.
Just after midnight, Victoria police attempted to stop the car in the 3100 block of Houston Highway, police department spokeswoman Sgt. Eline Moya said.
The Malibu was reported as stolen from a rental car agency in Houston, said police Lt. Michael Tatum.
During the chase, the car left the road and drove through barbed wire into the brush.
The search did not resume at daylight.
Those detained, thought to be in the country illegally, were not charged and were being held at the Victoria County Jail for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
