Mentoring angels

The Victoria school district board of the trustees recognized the April Employee of the Month, Lt. Col. Roy Gonzales, who for 18 years has led the Air Force Junior ROTC program in the Victoria school district. They praised his love for nation and his dedication to his students. Victoria school board trustees extended thanks to the members of the Victoria Business and Education Coalition (VBEC) for the work they do on behalf of VISD children with the "You Make a Difference Award." VBEC recruits mentors for the HOSTS program, was a major organizer of the first Dream Big STEM Expo, sponsors a summer Youth Leadership Camp, and works with campuses in creating connections to the business community.
