In preparation for this year's Field of Honor, volunteers from the Victoria County Sheriff's Office, the Victoria Fire Department, the Port Lavaca Fire and Police departments, the Aransas Pass Volunteer Fire Department, Caterpillar Manufacturing, Stallion Oilfield and Doggett Surveying turned out to plant thousands of pieces of rebar, which will support sponsored flags for area military. The American flags, each dedicated to a living or deceased veteran, will be labeled and posted May 11. A special dedication service with fireworks will be May 14 at the Field of Honor, at the corner of Mockingbird Lane and Sam Houston Drive. The flags are erected to honor the men and women of the military and will be visited by national wounded warriors May 18 during Warriors' Weekend. The flags will wave at the Field of Honor from May 11 to June 2.
