Daniel Sutton, driver with Central Freight Lines in Victoria, loads pallets of boxed shoes onto the back of a freighter that were collected during the 2013 annual Barefoot Sunday shoe drive at Faith Family Church.

Mark Longoria, Faith Family Church outreach minister, and Daniel Sutton, a driver with Central Freight Lines in Victoria, spent part of Thursday loading thousands of shoes into a trailer.

The shoes were collected during the 2013 annual Barefoot Sunday shoe drive organized by Longoria and Victoria Advocate religion reporter Jennifer Preyss.

The pair helped coordinate the effort in the Crossroads, which aimed to collect more than 3,500 pairs of adult and children's shoes for impoverished families in Malawi, Africa.

In three years, Barefoot Sunday has sent more than 15,000 pairs of shoes to Africa.

Sutton said the shoes, which were loaded Thursday, will be delivered to Dallas and continue to California to be dropped off at the Children of the Nations International supply distribution warehouse.

The shoes will be sorted and shipped overseas to Africa later this year.
