'Big O' takes the high mark
Mike Osterson (Big O) was very consistent during Rolling Thunder action to top the 700 mark.
Osterson bowled games of 239, 236, and 234 for a nice 709 set. The only open frames he had were a single pin miss in the second game and a split in the third game.
Thomas Rutherford posted the second highest total with a 235 game contributing towards a 659 series.
Jamar Bryant also broke the 650 mark with a 652 set.
Bobby Marques rolled a great 277 individual high game.
Olivia Jackson had the highest score for the women with a 220 high game helping towards a 565 set during Rolling Thunder action.
Morgan Matula was second with a 557, also in Rolling Thunder play.
There has been a change in the contact for the Thursday morning Captain's League. Nicole Wallace is the new contact for the four-member women's league. She can be reached at 361-579-7651 if you are interested in bowling in the league.
The Over The Hill League bowls on Monday afternoons and was spearheaded many years ago by the late John Fox.
It is a mixed league for senior bowers age 50 and over. It provides a good opportunity for people to compete in a friendly environment.
Bobbie Long is the contact person for this league and can be reached at 361-649-5034. The membership meeting will be on Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. with three free practice games after the meeting.
Larry Stroud (361-648-0480) and the Red River League are also looking for bowlers to fill at least one team roster. The league bowls on Monday nights at 7 p.m. and it is an all men's league.
Bailey Koebrick is trying to get a Collegiate League started on Tuesday nights. It is open to all Victoria College and UHV students. Bailey can be contacted at 361-550-7327 or 576-1166.
As of this date, the Century Lanes is the only bowling house open in Victoria.
Last Saturday evening, the Victoria USBC Association hosted its annual director, Hall of Fame inductee, and scholarship winner installation dinner.
Erin Faltysek was presented with a plaque for being inducted into this years' VUSBC Hall of Fame.
Erin started bowling in the youth leagues in 1988 and later progressed to local adult leagues.
Among her bowling accomplishments are a women's City Championship title, several other city tournament titles, and holding a top five final average for seven years.
Bailey Koebrick was awarded a VUSBC Association Scholarship for the second consecutive year.
Sharon Guinn was recently elected to replace outgoing member Dawn Marek, who chose not to run for office again. We thank Marek for her many years of service in the old Victoria Womens' Bowling Association and the merged Victoria USBC Association.
Re-elected to a new three year term were Christine Speer, Steve Dickinson, and John Cavazos.
Samantha Wharton was appointed by the youth committee, as a new director in the Victoria Youth League program.
