Receipts: 1,670

Had 235 cows and 11 bulls. The packer market settled back a little from recent highs as numbers are picking up as result of extreme heat and drought concerns. Packer bulls, however, set a new high of $104 as on a couple of high yielding bulls.

The calf market was again higher. The values across all weight classes was once again stronger by $2 to $4 over last week's unprecedented increases. A very active market with a lot of interest from a lot of buyers made for new highs in a lot of classes.

Packer bulls: Heavyweights, $95-$104; lower grades, $70-$89.

Packer cows: breakers, $65-$75; boning cows, $65-$85; canners and cutters, $80-$90; light and weak, $50-$65.

Palpated dry cows (25 bred cows): $90-$100; pairs: none.

Compared to last week: The market was much stronger again this week. Better quality classes of calves sold mostly $5 to $6 higher with instances $8 higher. Dollars per head are at very attractive levels, particularly on the heavier weights.

Packer cows and bulls sold $2 to $3 higher on about 225 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $76-$93.50; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $64-$76; lightweight canner cows, $52-$64.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $99-$104; utility and cutter bulls, $93-$99; lightweight canner bulls, $85-$93.
