If properties are sold, where will tenants live?
Editor, the Advocate:
I wonder if the University of Houston or the city of Victoria has given any thought to where the hundreds of residents living in the Casa Del Rio and Arlington apartments will go if the sale of those properties goes through? Some of those people have lived in those apartments for years and are older people with limited income and transportation. This is their home, and they are settled and happy.
Sure, there are new apartments being built, but the leases are not middle- to low-income friendly, not to mention the waiting lists.
I think it is great that the expansion is necessary, but at the expense of someone's home, I don't think that's right. There are two empty spaces on the campus where buildings could be built, and I am sure there is other property around town they could purchase that is not someone's home.
