A 65-year-old truck driver from San Antonio escaped serious injury Thursday morning when his tractor-trailer with its load of bread left U.S. Highway 87, 2 miles south of Nursery.
Daniel Hernandez was taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro by Victoria Fire Department Emergency Medical Services.
He was treated and released, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety report.
The call came in at 3:37 a.m., said Fire Department Battalion Chief Bubba Bayer.
"He was hauling baked goods," Bayer said.
"He fell asleep and ran off the right side of the road, and the truck flipped over on its left side," said Trooper Gerald Bryant, DPS spokesman.
Trooper Jeannie Slovacek investigated the crash.
