Bridge replacement to close DeWitt roadway

The Texas Department of Transportation will replace a bridge about two miles northwest of state Highway 72 on Cabeza Road in DeWitt County near Nordheim, beginning Sept. 9.
As a safety measure, the road will be closed for one week, depending on the weather, according to a news release from Texas Department of Transportation.
Following the one-week closure, yield signs will be placed at each end of the work area to allow for one direction of traffic at a time to cross the one-lane detour until completion of the new bridge construction.
The overall project is expected to be complete by mid-December, according to the release.
Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists should use caution and observe all warning signs.
Relmco, of Hondo, is leading the $487,910 project to remove the existing bridge and replace it with a new concrete structure.
