Family appreciates coverage of daughter's story
Editor, the Advocate:
The Rudd family wants to express our sincerest appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding, inspiring and compassionate article, photos and video of our family by reporter Elena Watts and Photo Editor Kat Duncan. We appreciate and are grateful for the time, effort and willingness you both took to publish this story of faith, hope and healing. The article was heart-provoking and well-written. Not to mention, the perfectly chosen photos and video came together flawlessly.
We have seen and continue to see the negative side of the life of children with medical issues and unique needs in the media that it is refreshing to have a positive, uplifting, inspiring article on the good things that can and are happening. We believe that the article, photos and video were great motivators that will encourage many parents and the community to expect a more positive outlook on the life of that child with medical issues and unique needs.
Our community is doing a good job with providing resources, but there is still so much more needed for children like Shayla and families like ours. Parents with children of unique needs appreciate all the help they can receive. We are telling other parents and the community that we may not be able to change the diagnosis that a child is given, but we can change the verdict of what life a child and a family will and could have.
It seems as if everyone that we talk to wants to express appreciation for the inspiring article, photos and video in this past Sunday paper. Your research, your depth of understanding of user interfaces and your ability to present the article in such an interesting way, we believe that it has produced one of the most memorable articles in our community.
Again, we thank you for the outstanding, inspiring and compassionate article written, photos taken and video recorded on Shayla and us. We extend our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to everyone and anyone involved in the writing/publication of the article, chosen photos and video/voice editing.
The Rudd Family, Victoria
