Motorcyclists led the funeral procession for Bryan Doane Friday morning.
LASALLE - Buddy Monroy, 8, was diagnosed with leukemia last year, which is now in remission.
When his father, James Monroy, of Victoria, learned of the Kory Kubecka Santa Run last year, he signed up his son to be part of the gift giving.
This year, they are working with the nonprofit to help raise money to purchase holiday gifts for children fighting cancer in the Crossroads area and Children's Hospital in San Antonio.
At the benefit Saturday at the Shack, Monroy, a Victoria County deputy sheriff, coordinated the blood drive and the motorcycle tour that attracted 45 bikers. More than 100 items were donated for the live auction.
Each year, the event raises more money than the previous year. It began in 2008. Last year, it raised $27,000 and helped 55 children.
Gifts range from electronics to shoes to toys.
The five-person board of directors and motorcyclists will travel to San Antonio on Dec. 7 to give the gifts to the children at a brunch at the St. Anthony Hotel.
Tuckered out from a romp in the bouncy house, Buddy said a Mindcraft game is at the top of his wish list this year. Last year, he received a Wii.
