Criticism of liberals left out conservative ills
Editor, the Advocate:
Ms. Sykora "put forth a few names" as "those honest and exemplary people," but she was like Alberto Gonzales, who forgot everything every time he was subpoenaed to testify before Congress. She named Clinton, but as Lee Hutchings said, "a stained blue dress is hardly in the same ballpark as committing this country to a very dubious war." Make that two wars unpaid for. She forgot "those honest and exemplary" people from the party of good family values: former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani; ex-Speaker Newt Gingrich; Sen. David Vitter; Sen. John Ensign; Sen. Larry "Wide-stance" Craig; Sen. Mark Foley (underage congressional pages); Sen. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, indicted and went to prison; Rep. Rick Renzi, indicted for money laundering, land and insurance fraud; Sen. Ted Stevens, convicted on seven felony counts of money laundering; ex-Speaker Tom DeLay, who had to resign; then Jack Abramoff and the K-Street bunch, the Enron scandal and "Scooter" Libby lying to a federal prosecutor about "outing" CIA agent Valerie Playne. Let's not forget some of those leaders of "good" family values - Jimmy Swaggart, Oral Roberts, Ted Haggard and that one in Colorado who got more than a massage. Before you sweep on someone else's doorstep, make sure yours is clean.
Jesus said to follow His example - take care of the widows and children, help the poor, elderly and hungry. Every program I can think of that helps the poor and middle class was started by the Democrats. Remember, your works speak louder than words. I think, regardless of race, there are good people in both parties. I, too, am a Bible-reading Christian, senior citizen (white), proud Democrat and enthusiastically voted (both times) for Barack Obama. Consider what a mess was dumped in his lap and the ones who helped create it refuse to do anything to fix it but to say "No, no, no!" They decided on election night they were not going to do anything to help this president or this country except go after women's rights, voting rights, etc. What are they afraid of?
