Receipts: 1,135

Had 189 cows and 14 bulls. The packer market was steady with past 3 weeks running. Despite some local rains, numbers coming to market are substantial. Demand holding good with these levels.

The calf market was strong throughout all classes for the most part. This despite the upcoming Labor Day holiday which kept some activity limited. Overall the market was stronger to steady with last week, but there were a few classes that were $1 to $3 lower being mainly on plainer type cattle. No new highs - just a solid market.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $88-$96; lower grades, $70-$87.

Packer cows: breakers, $65-$75; boning cows, $65-$85; canners and cutters, $80-$92; light and weak, $50-$65.

Palpated dry cows (18 bred): $89-$122; pairs (two): $1,200 and $1,360.

Steer calves: (under 200) $212-$244; (200-250) $202-$211; (250-300) $201-$210; (300-350) $173-$209;(350-400) $175-$192; (400-450) $160-$180; (450-500) $153-$172; (500-600) $145-$158; (550-600) $138-$144;(600-700) $129-$140; (700-800) $128-$135.

Compared to last week: More good rains in our area. Heavier weight classes of calves sold steady to $2 higher. Lighter weight classes sold weaker than last week's very high market. Plainer and fleshier classes were a little weaker, but overall demand very good.

Packer cows and bulls sold $1 to $2 higher on about 330 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $75-$93; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $63-$75; light weight canner cows, $52-$63.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $100-$107; utility and cutter bulls, $94-$100; light weight canner bulls, $85-$94.
