Police tape marks the scene where a 2-year-old boy was found unconscious in the Guadalupe River at the intersection of Wilden Street and Old Goliad Road in Victoria.

A 2-year-old boy was rushed to DeTar Hospital Navarro on Wednesday afternoon after he was found unconscious in the Guadalupe River.

Victoria police received a call about a possible drowning at 2:15 p.m. along the river downstream from Southwest Moody Street.

The condition of the child was not immediately available Wednesday night.

Sgt. Eline Moya, spokeswoman for the Victoria Police Department, said the child was on the south bank of the river in the 1100 block of Wilden Street when rescue workers arrived.

She said police and the child's mother performed CPR. Minutes later, he was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro by ambulance.

A hospital spokeswoman said the child has since been transferred.

A dirt boat ramp enters the Guadalupe River at the intersection of Wilden Street and Old Goliad Road - a residential area with a few houses.
