The Museum of the Coastal Bend on the Victoria College campus is hosting a brand-burning event for area ranchers on from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
Ranchers can burn their livestock brands for inclusion in the museum's permanent Brand Wall exhibit that currently showcases more than 200 local brands.
"We'll provide the heat source and a 10-by-10-inch wooden tile for branding at no charge," said Sue Prudhomme, director of cultural affairs at VC and director of the museum. "We welcome those who'd just like to come and watch."
Participants will be asked to complete an information sheet about their brand.
The event happens during the museum's annual holiday reception and artisan's market, which is free and open to brand-burning participants as well as community and museum members.
For more information, contact Prudhomme at 361-582-2436 or email Sue.Prudhomme@VictoriaCollege.edu to reserve a wooden tile.
