Downtown Cuero will be transformed into a winter playland starting Thursday for the inaugural Christmas in Downtown event.

"The event plans to draw families to downtown for an old-fashioned Christmas experience to complement the already successful and highly attended Christmas in the Park," said Bridgette Bise, director of the Cuero Main Street Program, which is hosting the event.

The three-day event will include an artificial ice skating rink, a life-size snow globe in which families and groups of up to six can get inside and have a photograph taken and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be on hand all three days.

Other planned activities include a carousel and a Christmas treasure hunt.

Event hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 2 to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
